Viction Infrastructure Upgrade: Atlas Hard Fork

Introducing Atlas Hard Fork
Atlas - named after the Titan who carried the sky on his shoulders - marks the next major step in Viction’s evolution. This infrastructure upgrade keeps the network lean, stable, and ready for what builders need most: speed, flexibility, and scalability.
Set to go live in August, Atlas removes outdated components, modernizes token mechanics, and helps the network handle growth more smoothly. It is a mandatory upgrade. We encourage node operators to upgrade early for smoother network stability.
Timeline
- ✅July 7 – Development & testing completed
- July 14 – Testnet deployment for final verification
- July 21 – Mainnet rollout window begins (30-day upgrade window for masternodes)
- August 21 – Atlas Hard Fork activates on mainnet
The Atlas Hard Fork is expected to occur at block 97705094. The estimated date is August 21, 2025, at 02:00 AM UTC.
What Atlas Brings to Builders
Retiring TomoX Module for a Leaner, Faster Chain
Viction was originally designed with a built-in order book DEX module called TomoX. Over time, modern AMMs like RabbitSwap and Baryon became the preferred choice for decentralized trading.
By retiring TomoX, Atlas keeps the network lightweight and efficient:
- Faster block validation and quicker block times
- Lower storage requirements, making nodes easier to run
- Improved sync and stability, especially as the network grows
- Developer focus concentrated on the modules that projects actively use today
These changes help builders launch and scale with a network that stays quick and reliable.
Upgrading VRC25 Standard for Greater Flexibility & Cleaner Chain
Atlas introduces new flexibility to the VRC25 token standard, so projects can better adapt their token strategies:
- Lower minimum deposit requirement: Reduce the minimum deposit amount to 1 wei, allowing projects the flexibility to deposit only what they need for their business operations.
- Optimize internal gas sponsorship process: Streamline the sponsorship mechanism to enhance overall chain performance and efficiency..
- Enable opt-out for gas sponsorship: When sponsored gas is exhausted, transactions will automatically revert to standard behavior, requiring users to pay their own gas fees.
These improvements mean builders are no longer locked into one setup forever - they can fine-tune how and when to cover gas fees, all while maintaining a frictionless experience for users.
Reduce Block Gas Limit for Smoother Network Performance
Atlas lowers the block gas limit, a change designed to keep the network fast and stable as it grows:
- Smaller blocks propagate more quickly between nodes
- Lower risk of congestion, even when transaction volumes spike
- Healthier transaction pools, improving node performance and stability
Together, these updates create a smoother experience for both builders and users.
What should you do?
For Node Operators
- We invite you to actively participate in the testnet phase by providing feedback and helping us verify the planned improvements. Your insights are critical to ensuring a smooth and secure upgrade.
- Please plan to upgrade your masternode software during the designated 30-day window (July 21– August 21). Early upgrades help maintain overall network stability, minimize disruptions, and deliver the best possible experience for all users and developers.
Note: We will release the new version on our GitHub in couple of days since this announcement for your review.
For Developers
- Review your applications to ensure full compatibility with the upcoming changes.
- Take advantage of the updated VRC25 standard to build products with improved security, flexibility, and performance.
- We strongly encourage you to test your applications thoroughly on the upgraded testnet starting July 14. This will help you identify and address any issues before the mainnet upgrade.
- Your feedback during this process is essential to help us refine and optimize the upgrade for the entire ecosystem.
For Users
- No action is required from regular Viction users. The upgrade process will be automatic.
- Most Dapps and services will continue to function as expected once the majority of masternodes complete the upgrade.
- We’re committed to making this transition as seamless as possible to ensure you can continue enjoying the Viction network without interruption.
Your participation and collaboration are essential to making Viction stronger, more secure, and more innovative than ever. Let’s work together to shape the future of our network.
Looking Ahead
Atlas isn’t about adding complexity - it’s about streamlining the network so builders can focus on what truly matters: creating products and experiences users love.
With Atlas, Viction becomes leaner, faster, and more adaptable to the needs of modern builders.
Thank you for building with us, and stay tuned for more updates.
